Job title : Accountant

The association of Micro Finance Institution in Rwanda(AMIR) is a growing and professional umbrella organisation of MFIs operating in Rwanda with the core mission of supporting its members to become professional and sustainable and would like to recruit a qualified/competent staff for this post

Responsibilities :

Responsible of all AMIR , including preparation vouchers and entering/posting into the sage accounting system within the weekly and monthly deadlines determines by AMIR Management

Monthly reconciliation and control of all balance sheet accounts including Staff,customer,members and supplier ledgers preparation and gathering of monthly cash flow and planning in order to secure sufficient funds being available for project and administrative activities prepare and maintain the staff payroll with timely payroll and secure all official employment taxes and fees are paid regularly and within respective due dates prepare management accounts of all projects accounts monthly in cooperation with the responsible project for approval.

Preparation of monthly financial statements review by management by management ,donors and other governing organs.
Understand the budget process and AMIR structure and give support and advice in budget related issues.

Responsible for entering all budgets into sage and participate in yearned accounting and closing of books within the time-frames and in accordance with AMIR guidelines.
Assist in Audits and works with auditors and prepare for the annual institutional audit and support head of units with all required financial information during reporting.

Make all payment in a timely manner after approval by the Executive Secretary or his/her designate
Prepare travel expenditure reports related to projects for approval.

Maintain financial records and financial system for AMIR,which confirms to the accounting standards and practice of Rwanda and internationally.

Prepare vouchers for payments,including obtaining necessary authorization with adequate details and supporting documents.

Adhere to budgetary control measures and ensure proper control of budget lines
Maintain proper filling and record keeping system within the accounts department, enabling efficient tracking of information at any time.

Prepare Reconciliation of Bank accounts & facilitate bank transfers
Ensure all financial documentation is properly filed.

Prepare the payroll for review, approval and do the salary payments inclusive tax deductions and remittance timely perform any other necessary duty within limited time period when requested by the immediate supervisor.

Profile and qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting(supported by notarized certificate) ;
A professional qualification like CPA and English proficiency is a must
At least 3 years of experience with donor financed projects including budgeting and reporting ;
Excellent command of accounting software (sage) supported by a certificate and work experience ;
Knowledge of financial accounting and standards ;

Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures ;

Working experience in local NGO or Audit firm(supported with letter of recommendation)

Minimum requirements and deadline
