The Youth Association for Human rights Promotion and Development (AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA) is a National Non Governmental Organization with a vision “A peaceful society where there is youth participation for social justice and decent living conditions for all” and a mission “to empower youth for Human rights respect and advocate for social-economic betterment.” The organization’s philosophy statement is described internally as the Vision, Mission and Values.
POSITION SUMMARY
AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA is seeking to recruit a qualified, dedicated and experienced national for the position of Human rights and access to Justice Program coordinator. This is a senior level position responsible for all programming development. The program coordinator is based at AJPRODHO Head Office and reports to the Executive Secretary. He/she will be part of the Senior Leadership Team of AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA and is expected to be an active contributor to the overall management of the organisation.
SPECIFIC TASKS
1. Program design and fundraising
Design program/project proposals for submission to potential donors
Make necessary follow up donors to ensure that submitted project proposals get funded.
Search for potential donors to fund program activities.
Being able to participate in organization’s programs and ready to act on other tasks that he/she may be assigned by Executive Secretary.
2. Coordination and supervision
Ensure the overall coordination of all projects and activities within the program.
Supervise all projects coordinators and/field officers implementing project activities within the program.
3. Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
Produce monthly, quarterly, semester and annual reports in relation to program activities.
Ensure systematic and regular monitoring and evaluation of all projects and activities within the program. This shall include specifically timely and quality reporting to donors.
4. Networking, advocacy and administrative duties
Attend directorate and management meetings.
Attend or advise the Executive secretary who should attend external meetings, workshops, and working groups relevant to the program.
Supervise internees, volunteers, associates, and researchers attached to the program.
Ensure timely disbursement of funds for the project activities in collaboration with the project coordinators and the finance department. Specifically, the program coordinator shall be entitled for the approval of all fund requests made for activities within the program and ensure timely and efficient reporting for fund utilization.
Ensure advocacy and networking within the framework of the program outcomes. The program coordinator shall be undertaking all assignments deemed necessary by the Executive Secretary.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES
At least hold a bachelor degree in law or sociology from an accredited University and with at least two years experience in a related field,
A master’s degree in human rights law or a master’s degree in arts specializing in human rights from an accredited University shall be preferable.
Proven experience in program design, fundraising, implementation and reporting.
Proven experience in advocacy and networking.
Knowledgeable about Rwanda’s National laws, policies and government structures.
Strong planning and facilitation skills.
Broad knowledge on gender equality and human right based principles and approaches.
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English or French (knowledge of the 3 languages is an asset).
Knowledgeable about civil society systems and dynamics
Full computer literacy.
Ready to start the job immediately.
