University of Rwanda/College of Medicine and Health Sciences (UR-CMHS) wishes to recruit qualified personnel for the post of Lecturer (L) and Tutorial Assistant (TA) at School of Dentistry located at NYARUGENGE CAMPUS.

1. FOR LECTURER.

Applicants must possess the following requirements:

At least Bachelor’s degree in dentistry with postgraduate specialist qualification in Pathology /Oral Pathology from a reputable university;

Appointable at the level of Professor or Associate Professors or Senior Lecturer;

Reputable teaching and research experience of 5 or more years in oral health related fields in the higher Learning Institutions;

Managerial qualifications and experience;

Registered with local professional council and in Good standing;

Eligible for licensure with the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council;

Self motivated individual willing to work long hours to ensure deliverables.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Develop and deliver academic content in oral pathology and oral health related disciplines students of the School of Dentistry and Pathology related academic to students of UR-CMHS.

Engage in research initiatives to raise the research profile of the School of Dentistry and UR-CMHS in general.

Develop and deliver oral pathology consultancy services within the school of Dentistry

Provide service within UR-CMHS Dental consultancy centre.

Contribute to the overall development and growth of the School of Dentistry as assigned.

2. FOR TUTORIAL ASSISTANT:

Applicants must possess the following requirements:

Possess a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) or Bachelor of Science with H lonors in Dental therapy BDT(Hons) with at least a Distinction.

Appointable at the level of Tutorial

Assistant or Assistant Lecturer;

Working experience of 2 or more years in oral health related fields;

Registered with local professional council and in Good standing;

Eligible for licensure with the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council;

Main duties and responsibilities:

Provide student centred teaching assistance at all times

Assist in the preparation, delivery and assessment of the tutorial and practical/clinical training sessions on all the programme to students;

Prepare teaching resources in advance of tutorial, including maintaining stocks of practical supplies and checking of the skills lab/clinical training items received (if required);

Prepare study guides and assist academic staff with the production of clinical training logbook and handouts

Supervision and marking of written assessment;

Assist as needed with dental academic /Clinical training programs including preparation of timetables, students’ records and marks, counseling and advising;

Ensure care and maintenance of relevant practical equipment if required;

Participate in the clinical training and supervision as well as in assessments and evaluation of clinical students;

Participation in diagnosis, treatment and management of dental conditions and performs such other clinical procedures in dental therapy.
