  • – Welcome to the Stade de Regionale in Kgali, where Rwanda host star-studded Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
    – The home team claim the match is being played at this smaller arena because the national stadium, the Amahoro Stadium, is under repairs.
    – Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi will start three players from the domestic league – Ejike Uzoenyi (Enugu rangers), Godfrey Oboabona (Sunshine Stars) and Azubuike Egwuekwe (Warri Wolves).
    – Skipper Joseph Yobo will also set a new Nigeria record for international appearances when he steps out for his 87th cap.
    – He equalled the previous mark of 86 caps in November, when the Eagles beat Zambia 2-0 in a friendly in Kaduna.
    – Nigeria XI: Vincent Enyeama, Taye Taiwo, Godfrey Oboabona, Joseph Yobo, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Ahmed Musa, Dickson Etuhu, Joel Obi, Ejike Uzoenyi, Osaze Odemwingie, Yakubu Ayegbeni.
    – Subs: Victor Moses, Sani Kaita, Uche Kalu, Gabriel Reuben, Ike uche, Papa Idris, Chigozie Agbim. Coach: Stephen Keshi
    – The stadium is filled to capacity a full hour to kick-off, the atmosphere is really charged.
    – Nigeria will use their second-choice strips of all-white after Rwanda insist on wearing green socks which will clash with the eagles first-choice kits of all-green.
    – The stadium capacity is put at 22,000 but it looks like about 15,000 spectators have crammed into this compact arena.
    – The two teams have completed the pre-match formalities and soon the big kick-off here in Kigali.
    – Rwanda lineup: Ndori, Karekezi, Gasawa, Kalisa, Iranzi, Nahinana, Muguraneza, Sibomana, Birori, Kagere, Haruna.
    – This is a clash of Nigeria ranked by FIFA as 56th top team in the world against Rwanda, who are rated 108th.
    1’ – Kick-off by Nigeria.
1’ – Nigeria are controlling the game from the onset as they pass the ball around themselves.
4’ – First real attempt at goal by Nigeria as Osaze shoots wide from outside the box.
4’ – The quicksilver West Brom striker has blasted nine goals in the English Premier League this season and Nigerians expect goals from him in this game.
5’ – Nigeria continue to press for a go-ahead goal and a free kick rolls out of danger, goal kick to the home team.
7’ – The Eagles win a corner, but nothing comes out of this opening.
8’ – This is Keshi’s first competitive game after playing four matches since he was appointed Eagles coach in place of Samson Siasia. he has won two, drawn two.
10’ – Still 0-0 in this clash in Kigali.
11’ – The host team attack but Eagles launch a fast counter only for Osaze’s shot to be well saved by the highly-rated goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndori.
12’ – Rwanda win a corner but it is cleared out of danger by the Eagles defence.
13’ – The home team are not intimidated by the pedigree of their visitors and they are giving as much as they are getting at this point in time.
15’ – Rwanda win a free kick around the Nigeria area but it is off target, Eagles shot stopper Enyeama has yet to be tested.
16’ – Rwanda skipper Oliver Karekezi is really motivating his troops in this battle as the game is now confined to the middle of the park.
17’ – Ejike Uzoenyi is dazzling on the wings, but a second corner by Nigeria again comes to nought.
24’ – Nigeria are controlling the game but they are a bit cautious also.
25’ – Still no goals in this match.
26’ – The home team are fast and also dish out a few cynical fouls against their opponents.
27’ – As the game progresses Rwanda would most certainly gain in self belief, while the pressure will begin to get to the Eagles.
28’ – The Eagles defence is looking a bit shaky now with Warri Wolves striker Azubuike Egwuekwe showing some signs of nerves on his full international debut as Rwanda attack.
33’ – The lively Ejike misses a chance to put Nigeria up and almost immediately the Rwandese counter but Enyeama holds his own.
34’ – The game is becoming very rough and South African ref Bennett is forced to warn some of the players to play fair.
35’ – This match is in dire need of a goal.
40’ – The first half is looking very much like it will finish without a goal as both teams appear to have cancelled out each other.
42’ – The Eagles are struggling in the midfield now as Etuhu and Joel Obi are not combining very well.
    44’ – Rwanda win a corner.
44’ – Nigeria are warming up some players, Gabriel Reuben, Uche Kalu and Ike Uche now.
45’ – The match is now running into additional time.
45’ – There will be five minutes of additional time according to the match officials.
45 + 1’ – The referee brings the first half to an end.
    – The home team finish the stronger especially after the Eagles midfield collapsed and Eagles coach Keshi must now have to do something about his engine room going into the second 45 minutes.
45 + 2’ – Nigeria midfield has collapsed and Rwanda are now enjoying the upper hand.
45 + 2’ – The problems in the Eagles engine room have allowed the home team to take control of this encounter now, that may explain why keshi is warming up Pillars star Reuben.
45 + 3’ – The problems in the Eagles engine room have allowed the home team to take control of this encounter now…
45 + 3’ – The Eagles must ensure they do not concede a goal at this time because it could well determine the final outcome.
45 + 4’ – Free kick to Rwanda outside the box, but again it is wasted.
46’ – Second half kicks off by Rwanda.
47’ – No changes by both teams as Rwanda now resort to a slower passing game.
48’ – Nigeria win a corner even though their play is uncoordinated and they are somehow pushing forward.
    51’ – It is still Rwanda 0 Nigeria 0.
53’ – Nigeria make first change – Ike Uche comes in for the largely ineffective Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
54’ – Certainly not the long-awaited eagles comeback that ‘The Yak’ had dreamt of after he was frozen out of international football since his big miss at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
55’ – It’s Osaze and not Yakubu who gives way to Ike Uche.
60’ – Goal scored by sub Uche is ruled for offside.
60’ – Before then Rwanda had a good chance to score but the striker fires his shot wide off target.
64’ – One hopes the high altitude is not getting to the Nigeria super stars.
66’ – Victor Moses makes his Eagles debut as he replaces Ahmed Musa.
67’ – Moses, who has represented England at various age-group levels since he fled Nigeria as an 11-year-old child, has opted to play for Nigeria at full international level and Keshi has now finally capped him.
70’ – Rwanda are now in total control of this game but skipper Yobo is doing a yeo man’s job in the Eagles defence to ensure Nigeria stay in the picture.
71’ – Rwanda miss yet another scoring chance as they fire over the bar, their finishing has been letting them down.
71’ – Rwanda President Paul Kegame has arrived the stadium. He is a soccer nut and so it is expected he will show.
72’ – The home team are in full flow, they have disorganised Nigeria, who have brought in Reuben Gabriel for a struggling Dickson Etuhu.
72’ – But for their poor finishing and some resolute defending especially by record man Yobo, Rwanda ought to be ahead in this match.
75’ – Nigeria have somehow pushed the rampant Rwandese to the middle of the park now, but still the home team are the ones who look more likely to get a goal in this encounter.
76’ – It is still Rwanda 0 Nigeria 0…Keshi would want to win his competitive debut but then his team must score goals.
79’ – Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is quick to come out of his posts to block a through ball and save Nigeria blushes.
80’ – The clock is ticking away and it is looking very much like Nigeria would have to be happy with a draw here except they step up a gear or two in the last 10 minutes.
82’ – Yakubu has been disappointing to say the very least, he seems to be strolling around the pitch aimlessly.
83’ – The Nigeria midfield is non-existent and Keshi must do something about this going forward, that was the case even when Nigeria beat Zambia 2-0 in Kaduna in a friendly in November.
85’ – Five minutes to the end of normal time and still no goal so far.
87’ – Eagles are now fighting back, but there have really not made any serious attack in the second half of this encounter.
90’ – It is full time now, and we are now in stoppage time.
90 + 1’ – Nigeria miss the biggest chance of the entire game when Oboabona goal-bound shot after some great work by Victor Moses is blocked with goalkeeper Ndori beaten and already sprawling on the turf.
    90 + 4’ – Rwanda are denied a late winner as Enyeama pushes a goal-bound shot for a corner.
90 + 5’ – The referee blows the whistle for Full Time.
    – The game is over! The second leg match will be played on June 17 in Abuja.
    – This was not the result that Nigeria were expecting as everything pointed to a win in Kigali for keshi in his competitive debut as Eagles coach.
