University of Rwanda/College of Medicine and Health Sciences (UR-CMHS) wishes to recruit qualified personnel in the

A. Department of Clinical Medicine and Community Health, School of Health Sciences located at NYARUGENGE CAMPUS.

1. Tutorial Assistant (1)

Applicants must possess the following requirements :

 A Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Community Health or its equivalent with at least a Distinction ;

 Working experience of 1 or more years in clinical area ;

 Registered with local professional council ;

 Excellent communication skills in English.

Main duties and responsibilities :

 To train, assess and evaluate clinical officer trainee’s during practical/ clinical and community placement ;

 Assist in preparation of clinical tools and monitor effective use by the students ;

 Assist senior academic staff in preparation of learning resources, organization of teaching and learning and delivery of lectures/tutorials ;

 Supervision and marking of written assessments ;

 Work with the Head of Department to plan and monitor the implementation of the clinical officer’s curriculum.

2. Lecturer (2)

Applicants must possess the following requirements :

 A PhD in Community/public healthOr PhD scholar ;

 Having education background in Medical discipline or Community/public Health ;

 Working experience of 5 or more years in clinical or community/public health area ;

 Teaching community/public health and or research experience of more than 5 years ;

 Managerial qualifications and experience ;

 Excellent communication skills in English ;

Main duties and responsibilities :

 Plans and coordinates teaching and learning activities to support Clinical Officers program and provide lectures/ tutorials in Community/public health, research and related disciplines ;

 To train, assess and evaluate Clinical Officers students during community placement ;

 To plan and conduct community outreach activities ;

 To carry out research and develop the capacity of students to do the same ;

 Contribute to the overall development and growth of the Department and students support programmes ;

 Contribute to the overall development and growth of the Department and students support programmes ;

B. Department of Medical Imaging Sciences, School of Health Sciences located at NYARUGENGE CAMPUS.

1. Lecturers

Required number : 1

Applicants must possess the following requirements :

 Masters of Science in Sonography and General radiography preferably majoring in Computerized tomography and MRI ;

 A minimum of four years working experience in clinical area and having been Involved in teaching and/or supervision of students in clinical placement for a minimum of two years ;

 Must have published at least two articles in a peer reviewed journal

 Excellent communication skills in English.

Main duties and responsibilities :

 Training and education

 Supervises and conducts the education and training in programs of Medical Imaging

 Lectures and demonstrates to colleagues in his/her profession and other professionals and also to other interested groups.

 Is required to take part in and contribute to the process of continuing professional development.

 Critically evaluates new developments in medical imaging for inclusion in a teaching syllabus.

 Keeps up to date with new teaching techniques.

 Management and supervision

 Supervises the activity of junior staff as appropriate.

Applicants must possess the following requirements :

 At least bachelor degree in 1. Nuclear Medicine, 2. Radiotherapy ;

 A minimum of 5 years working experience in clinical area and having been Involved in teaching and/or supervision of students in clinical placement for a minimum of two years ;

 Excellent communication skills in English

. Main duties and responsibilities :

To train and teach students and trainees as required and assist in setting up structures necessary in preparation for the country plan to have cancer treatment center in place.

 Training and education

 Teach and supervise students in specialty areas of radiotherapy and Nuclear medicine

 Lecture and demonstrate to colleagues in his profession and other professionals concerned with Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine

1. Lecturer (1)

Applicant must possess the following requirements :

 Master’s of medicine in Ophthalmology or its equivalent (PhD is an added advantage)

 Two years experience is an added advantage

 Registered with local professional Council

 Excellent communication skills in English

Main duties and responsibilities :

 Teach, train, guide and mentor students in the ophthalmology department

 Plan, develop, organize and coordinate delivery of lessons/courses and clinical skills training for students

 Develop teaching materials in his areas and promote use of ICT in training

 Carry out assessments, monitoring and evaluation of program, courses and other activities in the department.

 Write grant proposal for different projects, Carry out and develop research and community outreach services

 Participate in the provision of continue professional development to fellow staffs in the department

 Bachelor Degree in Ophthalmic clinical officer/Ophthalmic technician/Optometry with at least with a Distinction

 Advanced diploma in Ophthalmic Clinical Officer with addition training in dispensing optician

 Two years experience is an added advantage

 Excellent communication skills in English

Main duties and responsibilities :

 Assist the lecturers in delivering tutorials to students in the ophthalmology department

 To provide clinical skills training and assessment in skills laboratory before students undergo clinical training at hospitals.

 To assist lecturers to upload teaching materials online and moodle system

 To work with lecturers to develop teaching materials such as audiovisual and other teaching aids.

 To assist head of department in planning and organizing implementation and evaluation of curriculum

 ISPO cat I from ISPO recognized institution ;

 A minimum of two years working experience in clinical area or having been Involved in teaching and/or supervision of students in clinical placement ;

 Supervises and conducts the education and training of individuals in Category-I (prosthetists/orthotists), Category-II (orthopaedic technologists) and Category-III (Technicians) whenever deemed necessary.

To assist in monitoring the day to day activities of the department as well as to perform roles in training and teaching of students and trainees as required.

♦ A minimum of two years working experience in clinical area or having been Involved in teaching ;

♦ Registered with local professional council ;

♦ Excellent communication skills in English. Main duties and responsibilities :

♦ To assist lecturers in facilitating the following subjects : Neurology, Pediatrics, Musculoskeletal Disorders, Respiratory Physiotherapy, Sports Physiotherapy, and Physiotherapy Techniques ;

♦ To train, assess and evaluate physiotherapy students during clinical and community placement ;

♦ To carry out practical demonstrations in Skills Lab ;

♦ To work with the Head of the Department of Physiotherapy to plan and monitor the implementation of the physiotherapy curriculum.
